The average lifespan of this breed is between 10 to 14 years. This loyal breed is also a hardy breed that has been well-screened for genetic health concerns since it was originally bred. There are only three color varieties of this breed that are accepted, those are black and white, tan and white and tricolored. This inquisitive breed is an instinctive hunter like its larger counterpart and is “native” to Australia. Unfortunately this breed is prone to deafness from merle coloration.
